What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Chiropractors use hands-on techniques to restore movement, reduce pain and improve overall function, without the use of drugs or surgery.
Do I need a GP referral to see a chiropractor?
No. You can book directly with us without a referral from your GP. If we feel it’s appropriate to liaise with your doctor or refer you elsewhere, we’ll let you know during your consultation.
No. You can book directly with us without a referral from your GP. If we feel it’s appropriate to liaise with your doctor or refer you elsewhere, we’ll let you know during your consultation.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a thorough consultation where we take a full case history, discuss your symptoms and carry out a physical examination. We’ll explain our findings clearly, discuss your treatment options and, where appropriate, begin treatment at the same session. We’ll also give you a realistic idea of how many sessions you may need.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the nature and duration of your condition. Some patients feel significant improvement after just two or three sessions, while others with more complex or long-standing issues may benefit from a longer course of care. We’ll always give you an honest assessment and never recommend treatment you don’t need.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic is widely recognised as one of the safest forms of treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. All chiropractors at Diversity Chiropractic are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), which ensures the highest standards of training, ethics and patient safety.
Will the treatment hurt?
Most patients find chiropractic treatment comfortable and often immediately relieving. Some people experience mild soreness after their first session, similar to how you might feel after starting a new exercise routine, but this typically settles within 24 to 48 hours.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, hip and knee problems, sports injuries and postural issues. If you’re unsure whether we can help with your specific condition, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to advise.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Chiropractic care can be suitable for people of all ages, including children and teenagers. Treatments for younger patients are adapted to be gentle and appropriate for their age and development.
Do you treat sports injuries?
Absolutely. Nick Baker has an extensive background in sports therapy and has worked with professional footballers, MMA fighters and PGA Tour golfers. Whether you’re a weekend runner or a competitive athlete, we can help you recover, rehabilitate and get back to doing what you love.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to remove outer clothing, so wearing a vest top or sports clothing underneath is always a good idea.
Do you offer sports massage?
Yes. Alongside chiropractic and osteopathy, we have a fully qualified Sports Massage Therapist and a purpose-built rehabilitation suite offering one-to-one and small group rehab sessions.
